![]() During the 1995 section, the Outer Heaven Uprising Occurs. As the final credits finish rolling, there is a timeline shown. The ultimate tell though, is when the game tells us. ![]() Seeing this in place of the Mother Base emblem further implies Venom Snake goes on to be the Big Boss you fight in Metal Gear 1. This is the name of the base that Solid Snake attacks during Metal Gear 1. Very briefly in the reflection of the mirror, we see the name Outer Heaven. The second piece of evidence is when Venom Snake shatters the mirror. This implies that even years before the events of Metal Gear 1, Big Boss and Venom Snake had planned for the eventuality of Solid Snake attacking them. This name refers to the name of the mission given to Solid Snake in Metal Gear 1. On one side is the message from Big Boss, but on the other is the name Operation Intrude N313. The key points that tell us about the Metal Gear 1 and 2 tie in occur during this scene, and are as follows:įirstly, there is the cassette. The evidence for the above is shown in the final cutscene of the game. He never expected Solid Snake to succeed the way he did, and certainly not to the point where he kills Venom Snake. What adds a greater twist to this is the man who sent Solid Snake on the mission was the original Big Boss himself. What we learn now is that this is in fact Venom Snake, the second Big Boss. Without diving too deep into this game and the next, Solid Snake is sent on a mission that ultimately leads to him confronting Big Boss. It's really impossible to say if Hideo Kojima planned this all along, or if it's just convenient that it works out. It does! The events that unfold in Metal Gear Solid V fit very well within the timeline and lead into Metal Gear 1 and 2, the oldest games in the franchise that were first released on the MSX. Fans would know this to be impossible, which means something was either wrong with our version of Snake, or with Eli.ĭoes the Existence of Two Big Bosses Fit? At this point it's all but told to us he is Liquid, yet during a conversation with Ocelot, we are told his DNA doesn't match ours. One of the biggest hints is during a conversation about Eli.The truth though, is that Ocelot is also explaining things to Venom Snake, as his memories of the past aren't 100% complete. This can be dismissed as the game explaining events to us, the player, in case we never played the other Metal Gears. We are told that this is due to his extensive injuries, but the truth is that Venom Snake had never known these things to begin with, since he isn't the real Big Boss. Early on, it's mentioned that his skills seem diminished, such as his ability to speak various languages. The changes to his appearance, such as the horn and prosthetic arm, are never seen in future iterations within the series. The second, new Big Boss wakes up later, and finally leaves the hospital during the events of the XOF attack at the beginning of Phantom Pain. The real Big Boss is the first to wake up, and is made aware of this plan. Ocelot oversees the two patients while ensuring that the memories and physical appearance of the Medic turn into that of Big Boss. Unable to accomplish this alone, he turns to Ocelot to oversee this long term endeavor. Through advanced techniques, he imparts the wisdom, memories and skills of Snake onto the Medic, essentially "cloning" Big Boss onto another living person. In an effort to protect Snake, Zero plans to use the Medic as a decoy by creating another Big Boss. The Medic and Snake are left in a room together, comatose. Kaz is separated from the other two, and recovers quickly from his wounds. Through her, Zero has the three survivors transferred to a remote hospital for top level care. He does this through EVA, another character from the Metal Gear series, who ultimately plays surrogate mother to Liquid and Solid. Once Zero learns the truth that Skull Face is trying to usurp him and attacked his former comrade, he uses his still-considerable resources to save Snake, Kaz and the Medic. By this point in the timeline, Zero had lost control of his own organization to Skull Face. Zero did not order the attack on Mother Base during the Ground Zeroes incident. Eventually there was a falling out between the two as their ideals began to differ. They worked together years ago during Metal Gear Solid 3. Zero is the former leader of Cipher and ally of Snake. When Kaz, Snake and the Medic are brought to a hospital after the explosion, it doesn't take long before their former ally Zero learns about it.
